Let the number of questions be X.
Then, 18 + 2/3 of (X - 22) = 75% of X
or, 18 + 2X/3 - 2×22/3 = 75X/100
or, 18 + 2X/3 - 44/3 = 3X/4
or, 3X/4 - 2X/3 = 18 - 44/3 = (54 - 44)/3 = 10/3
or, (9X - 8X)/12 = 10/3
or, X = 10/3×12 = 40
